Originally written as a response to the Parkersburg tornado of 2009, I found myself even closer to the action as an EF-3 tornado hit my town of Marshalltown, IA on July 19, 2018. Once again I found that beyond the broken walls, the destroyed homes, the power outages, etc. More powerful were two things: God's grace, and the human spirit. It's been a tough road but the blessings from God keep showing up everyday, and the people of Marshalltown stand together in a new way. This song expresses my feelings in dealing with the triumph in tragedy.
